New Zealand vs India Match Preview – Expert Prediction Overview
Such has been the start to the warm-ups of CT 2017 that you can’t expect anything better on the cricket field. With lots and lots of runs being scored and both the games having 300 plus scores in both innings, you can expect the cricket to go at next level when the actual tournament starts. Now we’ll be focusing on the game between India and New Zealand. It’s the next warm-up scheduled on 28th of May and will be played at Kennington Oval, London. Even though it’s just a warm-up fixture, there are lots of speculations revolving around and all eyes are on the clock as to when the game will get underway.
As for our prediction, we’d say that it will be New Zealand who are sure to win this one considering the way they have been playing lately. However, Indian players are just coming from the recently concluded IPL 2017 and will be all set to shift the flow of T20 cricket to ODI and blast out from day 1.
The reports are that India will be playing without Yuvraj and Rohit in this first warm up but they still have a lot of other players to rely on. India still have their captain cool to depend on as Virat Kohli has been their most stylish and most dependable player in recent times. Besides, Shikhar Dhawan has also been in great striking form and a lot will be depending on him to give India a head start and help them post a big target. Ajikya Rahane, Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni can all put in their efforts together to help India end up on the top. As for their bowling, Indian have re-called Mohammed Shami for this major tournament especially.
Shami hasn’t played so much of ODI cricket lately and it will be a good warm up for him to begin his Champions Trophy campaign right on top. Bhuvneshwar Kumar really had a wonderful IPL season where he picked 26 wickets in his 14 outings and was the leading wicket taker of the tournament. So India will be relying on him a great deal as well. For India, R Ashwin has been the main stay, especially, in ODI cricket and he will have a role to play against New Zealand as well.
The Kiwis, on the other hand, are coming after a series win in Ireland where they won the tri-nation series against the hosts and Bangladesh. With Kane Williamson leading them, they will be relying on his great batting form as far as their batting department is concerned. Besides him, there are quite a few batsmen that New Zealand can choose to rely on including Neil Broom, Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, de Grandhomme and Tom Latham. Latham was ecstatic in the last series and will be expected to continue with the momentum. New Zealand will also be expecting late heroics from de Grandhomme to dominate the crunch moments of the game against a solid Indian outfit. In the bowling department they have Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Mitchell McClenaghan and Mitchell Santner to rely on. All the bowlers are in great bowling form and will play a vital role in their chances to win this one.
