India vs Pakistan Match Preview Final Champions Trophy
Both India and Pakistan have played superb cricket in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 so far and now they have come to Final. It’s been a great achievement for both the sides. Talking about their performances in the tournament, India had a perfect start against Pakistan but then they were bogged down by the Sri Lankans. Afterwards they played wonderfully against South Africa and Bangladesh and will now be looking to get another victory to lift the trophy. On the contrary, Pakistan didn’t let their moral go down after getting defeated in a humiliating manner against India in their first match of the tournament but that defeat, in fact, kicked start their journey towards excellence and they won three matches on the trot to make it to the ICC CT 2017 Final. So, the morale is high and expectations from them are that they will not let India get better of them yet again.
Both the teams are playing their best cricket and it will just be the matter of who plays better on the day as they meet at The Oval, London on Sunday. Be it Pakistan or India to win the Champions Trophy 2017, we really have one great game of cricket on the cards. Let’s see who comes out on top this time around.
India Strengths Vs Pakistan
India’s strength, as always, has been there batting. They have batted brilliantly throughout the tournament and have piled runs as well as chased them down successfully on several occasions. So, India will really be hoping for one more great performance from their batsmen.
They have Dhawan and Rohit on the top batting solid as a rock. Both their openers have played great cricket so far and have piled runs innings after innings. Both of them have scored 1 century and 2 fifties in the tournament so far and will be up for yet another big innings. Dhawan is the leading run scorer in the tournament with 317 runs to his credit while Rohit seals the spot for second highest runs getter with 304 runs under his belt. India will also bank on their captain Virat Kohli, who plays the role of a wall in Indian batting. He has been solid at number 3 except in one game when he got out for 0. His aggregate in this tournament is 253 and his highest is 96*. So, he will be looking forward to yet another match winning hundred for India.
But one thing that India must be watchful of is that it’s been a show for Indian top 4 throughout this tournament so far and if Pakistani bowlers manage to get through them quickly then India might find themselves in trouble as no one in the lower batting order has had enough match practice throughout the tournament. So, someone in the top 4 will really have to take the responsibility and play a big, anchoring knock for India.
Another concern for India might be their bowling. Their main bowlers together have picked up a total of 16 wickets so far in the tournament where Pakistan’s bowling spearhead, Hasan Ali, has alone picked up 10. With that being said, Indian bowlers have been quite effective so far and they’ll be expected to continue with their effective bowling performance. India will be expecting Bhuvneshwar to swing the ball early on and pick a couple of quick wickets to give his side a chance in the game. Umesh Yadav, who finished with the figures of 3 for 30 in the first game against Pakistan, is also expected to make a comeback if R Ashwin is not fit enough to play the Final as he had pulled a muscle lately and was seen practicing with a heavily bandaged knee.
Pakistan Strengths Vs India
Many might talk that Pakistan’s real strength has been their bowling but from what we had seen in the Semi Final against England it appears that their batting is also going to give a tough call to the Indian bowlers. Fakhar Zaman, the much-talked about left-handed opening batsman, has consistently scored runs at the top every since his inclusion in the playing XI. He has scored 31, 50 and 57 in the three innings that he has played in the tournament by now and it appears that his performance is getting better with every game. So, he will be expected to do a lot better in a big game and against a side as good as India.
But it’s not just all about Fakhar, and if you look at the Semi Final game you’ll find out that everyone chipped in with handy performances. Azhar Ali played a solid knock of 76 – remember he also scored a fifty in the first game against India – and appears to go for a big ton in the big game. Besides, Babar Azam seems to have gained his form back considering the way he played against England right from the word go. Hafeez also played a few wonderful shots scoring a few boundaries in the last game. And Shoaib Malik will also be expected to play a big knock and convert those little starts that he has been getting throughout the tournament, right from the first game against India.
Talking about the bowling, Pakistan’s pace attack has been the most ferocious pace attack to play in this tournament. They have managed to restrict all big sides including South Africa, Sri Lanka and England under 240 and will be running extremely high on confidence as they get into the big game. Good news for Pakistan is that Mohammad Amir is fully fit and will be seen in action against India in the big Final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
All eyes, however, will be on the leading wicket taker of the tournament Hasan Ali. If he manages to penetrate through the defenses of Indian batsmen then India will really have a tough time in the middle. Leading the table already with 10 wickets to his credit, he’s definitely set to pick a up few more tomorrow.
Whether Pakistan will play Shadab or Fahim is yet to be seen. But whoever gets a game will definitely come up with a commanding performance. That’s exactly what has been the story for Pakistani youngsters so far in the tournament. So, let’s see how it turns out to be on the day.
India vs Pakistan Captain’s Comparison
Indian captain Virat Kohli has been captaining Indian side for quite some time now and is considered as one of the most solid performers and captains in world cricket. He’s a big game player and might win it single-handedly for his side if he gets going. He has already scored 253 runs in the tournament with a highest of 96* in the Semi Final against Bangladesh. So, he will be a real threat for Pakistan. Besides, his captaincy skills are great as well. He has won 3 out of 4 matches in the tournament for his side and will be expected to win one more in the Final.
Pakistan’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmad, on the other hand, has been growing in confidence with every game that he is leading his side into. Though only a couple of series old, the new captain has earned some respect in his new role after leading his side to quite a few victories in a short span of time. His captaincy has been praised throughout the tournament and everyone is talking about his performance. He really showed great character by leading his side to victory in the game against Sri Lanka where he scored an unbeaten 61. He has also won 3 out of 4 matches in the tournament and the best thing is that these 3 victories have come back to back. His eyes will also be on the title as he leads Pakistan into the ICC Champions Trophy Final 2017 India vs Pakistan game.
