Sri Lanka official team squad vs India ODI series 2017. Official Sri Lanka list of players against India for ODI series. Sri Lanka cricket board officially announced the list of Sri Lankan players for ODI series against India.
The change of leadership didn’t really work out for Sri Lanka as they had a most humiliating series defeat against India at home in the Test matches. But is there going to be any change as we switch formats on the Indian tour to Sri Lanka? Well, that has yet to be seen with both the teams taking on each other in the ODIs from 20th of August 2017.
Sri Lanka will have yet another brand new captain to lead them in ODIs as Upul Tharanga takes the leadership role. Tharanga has shown his experience with the bat in recent times and has proven to be their best bet in the middle order with the bat. But can he prove his talent as a captain? Will he be able to take Sri Lanka out of their misery and help them secure a series win in ODIs? Well, let’s wait and watch.
Sri Lankan Batsmen – Batting Lineup
Tharanga has batted quite consistently in last few ODI innings as he crossed the 50 runs mark regularly. It’s now time for him to show that consistency against a cricketing giant and help his side boost its ranking. Other than him, Sri Lanka have quite a young batting line up with not much experience in the ranks. But some promising youngsters who appear to be the bright future of Sri Lankan cricket include Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis, Milinda Siriwardana, and Danushka Gunathilaka. All of them have got runs under their belt lately and will play a crucial role for Sri Lanka in the ODI series with the bat. Chamara Kapugedra and Angelo Mathews remain in the experienced lot as well.
Sri Lankan Bowlers – Bowling Lineup
Sri Lankan bowling attack will be lead by their veteran pacer Lasith Malinga. Vishwa Fernando is the new addition to the bowling lineup and how he performs against Indian batting powerhouse is yet to be seen. Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera can also roll their arms over. In the spin bowling department, Sri Lanka will depend on youngsters Lakshan Sandakan and Akila Dhananjaya. Both of them have bowled well of late and will play a crucial part in Sri Lanka’s performance against India. Wanindu Hasaranga is also a good addition to Sri Lankan bowling lineup.
