Indian captain Virat Kohli got back to form with a splendid hundred in the last ODI where he scored an unbeaten 110 from just 116 balls. He along with Kedar Jadhav will be in the spotlight in the only T20 match for India. As for Sri Lanka, it’s really a tough ask to comeback after such demoralizing defeats in the Tests and ODIs. If they have to win it this time around, they really need a power-house performance from their entire unit let alone a couple of players only.
For India, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane opened the innings in the last ODI and they’d probably be going with the same duo. But they will really have to do something special at the top. Jadhav did a wonderful job with the bat by scoring 63 from 73 balls. He and Virat Kohli will have to join hands together to give India a chance with the bat in the final game of the tour. Pandey also gave good account of his abilities in the last game and will be expected to blast his way through the only T20 match of the tour. But they will have to decide whether or not they have to play Pandya who has been their real basher towards the end of the innings for quite some time now.
As for their bowling, they’d want Bhuvneshwar Kumar to come up with a similar spell that he bowled in the last ODI and picked up 5 for 42. Besides, Chahal, Yadav and Bumrah will also be in the spotlight as well.
Sri Lanka Strengths
Sri Lankans have been down and out right throughout this summer having lost most their matches, even against Zimbabwe. Now, looking forward to the final match of this tour, Sri Lanka will count on Dickwella and Tharanga at the top who have been in good touch for most part. Tharanga even smashed 48 in the last game as well from only 34 balls. But he will be expected to last a bit longer on the crease. Besides, Thirimanne, Mathews and Siriwardana look in good touch with the bat and can blast a few in the only T20 match on Wednesday.
Their bowlers have done a decent job in bits and pieces right throughout the ODIs. However, they don’t have a single bowler that they can count on completely. Malinga, Dananjaya and Pushpakumara will be their front runners with the ball in the last game of the tour. And, if Dananjaya can pull up something special as he did in one of the ODIs then it will be all over for India as it’s the shortest format of the game that we’re talking about and only a single good spell can turn things upside down here.
